Hello everyone,
I have a specific question: What are your experiences with the combination of shoes and dirt on the IKEA KALLAX shelves? Specifically, I am interested in how durable the surface is against dirt, for example from street shoes, and whether the dirt can be easily removed without leaving scratches or unsightly marks. I would also like to know if there are any differences depending on the type of shoes used (sneakers, leather shoes, brogues, etc.) and if you might have tips on how to best protect or clean the KALLAX shelving system when such dirt occurs. Thank you in advance for your experiences and recommendations!

I paid attention to this at our place: If I forget and place shoes with dirt on the KALLAX, stains become noticeable quickly. Since the KALLAX is not moisture-resistant, you feel bad later if the furniture gets damaged. That’s why my recommendation is to take precautions beforehand, for example, using wipeable mats that can be cleaned easily.
Sometimes this concern stresses me out, but I really appreciate that there are many helpful tips shared here!

I’ll get back to you once I’ve tried it. Thanks again for all the helpful advice!
