With some hinges, in my opinion, there was hardly any audible click, and I was unsure if they were properly engaged. After that, I did have to adjust the doors several times, especially horizontally. Are there any advantages to the plastic sleeve? I’m worried I might have damaged it by applying too much force.

The sleeve is really a weak point. It has happened to me as well that it broke, which made the door quite unstable.
