Hello everyone, I am currently planning to assemble a Brimnes bed from IKEA, and I have noticed that there are quite a few complaints online regarding the assembly process. I would like to know: What are the most common problems or annoyances you have experienced when assembling the IKEA BRIMNES furniture, especially concerning the assembly instructions, the fit of the parts, and the quality of the supplied screws and connectors? Are there typical pitfalls to watch out for, or areas where IKEA has been somewhat lacking in product quality? Thanks in advance for your feedback and tips!

I believe IKEA should not be clearly labeled as the culprit here without carefully analyzing the users.

The instructions are often a standard item that must be generally applicable, but they can be insufficient for users with less DIY experience. The fit of the parts varies depending on the production batch. I would rather question critically whether a lack of proper tools or incorrect interpretation of the instructions is the real cause of many issues.

Regarding the screws: it is true that they are often of lower quality and can affect stability. Those who use a small Allen wrench instead of the included one usually have fewer problems. But these are all observations I would not consider fundamental errors, rather opportunities for improvement.

I really enjoyed assembling my BRIMNES, but yes, there are a few things that could be improved! 😊

- Some of the holes in the wooden parts don’t line up perfectly, which can be quite frustrating!
- The screws are often a bit too small or not strong enough, as you correctly pointed out.
- The instructions could sometimes include more detail, especially regarding the order of assembly.

But that’s exactly what makes the Brimnes fun if you’re willing to approach it step by step! Just follow the process carefully, and it usually works out well. Stay motivated, even if it gets a bit tricky 🙂

I’m curious to know what others consider the biggest mistakes? For me, patience and a little sense of humor are essential—do you find that’s the case for you too?

From my experience, the most common mistakes during the BRIMNES assembly typically occur in the following areas:

- Assembly instructions: Visually clear overall, but occasional misunderstandings arise, especially when illustrating the correct orientation of individual components.
- Fit and alignment: Slightly inconsistent, suggesting variations in manufacturing quality. Careful checking before fastening is therefore advised.
- Screws and connectors: Average quality, sometimes insufficient for long-term stability. Replacing them with higher-quality parts can be worthwhile.

Additionally, I recommend systematically counting all parts and inspecting them for damage before assembly. Some users have also reported missing screws, which mainly causes delays during the build process.

In conclusion, a structured approach and calm working method are advisable to reduce errors and frustration.

I agree, but I would like to add that with the BRIMNES, the weak points often lie in the following areas:

- The pre-drilled holes are sometimes not precisely positioned, which can cause slight shifts when assembling the components.
- Connecting the side panels with the headboard and footboard can be difficult without a second person.
- The quality and length of the included screws are often limited and not always ideal for heavy loads.

Proper preparation is therefore important: check all parts before unpacking, use a screwdriver with a good grip, and arrange for help during more demanding assembly steps.

Another tip: If parts are checked at the hardware store before purchase or assembled side by side before the actual build, errors and frustration can be avoided.
