Maverick185424 Jul 2012 08:02Hello everyone,
me again.
Here’s the situation: we are currently planning a kitchen based on the Faktum system with a countertop height of 95cm (37 inches). We also need to fit a washing machine into the design. Of course, the washing machine itself isn’t 95cm (37 inches) high, and I’d like the baseboard to run continuously along the kitchen. Has anyone else dealt with this problem? If so, how did you solve it? We want to avoid buying a new washing machine if possible. I found some types of platforms online, but they tend to be significantly higher.
Thanks and best regards,
Christian

IKEA-Experte25 Jul 2012 14:44I had the same problem once, but with a height of 90 cm (35 inches). I placed the washing machine on a piece of countertop. For 95 cm (37 inches), I would put it on two countertops screwed together and then adjust the rest using the washing machine’s feet. A continuous plinth wasn’t possible for me because the plinth recess of the machine was too shallow. I then screwed a plinth panel onto the countertop so that, at least in terms of surface and color, it matched the rest of the plinth panels.

Ludwig_281726 Jul 2012 17:20I think IKEA_Experte’s post makes a lot of sense! I wouldn’t do it any other way either!
I would also recommend using suitable scrap wood as a base here. I would screw it in place and additionally glue it with wood adhesive to make everything really solid! Additionally, I would put a protective mat for washing machines underneath to reduce the vibrations transmitted to the floor.

Artur_859929 Jul 2012 10:21I bought a built-in washing machine of a special kind (not from IKEA). During installation, I noticed that it is not screwed to the countertop and can only be raised slightly, leaving a gap of several centimeters (inches) between the washing machine and the countertop. At first, I thought I had bought the wrong washing machine, but apparently, it is intentional that the washing machine should not be in contact with the countertop. See also the picture from IKEA: There is a gap of several centimeters (inches) between the top and the countertop!
