ᐅ Tips for Kitchen Design

I am planning to move to a different apartment this summer and want to completely renovate the kitchen by replacing it with an IKEA kitchen.

The kitchen itself is square-shaped – my biggest challenge is that the wall with the windows runs almost the entire length, so I cannot install tall cabinets directly up to the windows without losing the ability to open them.

I have printed a plan from the IKEA kitchen planner as a PDF and also took a screenshot.

I would really appreciate any tips!

I also think the front looks too fragmented. I experimented a bit with the planner without considering the potential issue of windows being too low.
I replaced the refrigerator with a built-in fridge-freezer combo to achieve a uniform front. I don’t see any possibility for two tall cabinets in this kitchen without it feeling overwhelming. That’s why the oven, which was previously built in at a higher level, was sacrificed and placed traditionally below the cooktop.
I’m not at all happy with the limited space next to the cooktop, but this is mainly meant as an alternative design that might bring some new ideas.

It would also be helpful to know the ceiling height and how much space there is above the door and windows.

Wow, cool idea! Thanks.

I found the corner unit in the Metod kitchen planner as well, but not directly on the website—is it a standard cabinet box installed at an angle? Do you happen to know?

I can’t provide several measurements (like ceiling height) at the moment; I would need to measure again. :/

That's correct, the countertop just needs to be custom-made accordingly.
