Hello everyone!

Is it possible to retrofit a TipOn opening mechanism for drawers without much effort?

Blum offers related fittings.
Does anyone know if they are compatible with the Blum drawer slides used in Metod?

Thank you very much for your help.

I can see that with you, IKEA expert, I’ve found a real professional here.
Thank you very much for your commitment!

If I understand correctly, the first option linked comes to about €70 per drawer, plus the bottom, back panel, and front.

The second link shows about €45 including the bottom and back panel (which together cost €10.50 for a width of 80cm (31.5 inches)), plus the front. This would actually be roughly the same price as the Maximera drawer.

I’m very surprised and positively impressed.

How much assembly work do you expect?
I assume there will probably be new drilling required on the carcass and drawer front.

Does the first option maybe offer advantages because it is also Blum hardware?

The Tandembox is available at a somewhat lower cost. There is no information available about the operation of the rails for the Modern Box.

With Blum, you have a wider selection of heights, a square railing, the option for side glass inserts, an adjustable release mechanism, a synchro set, and good customer service, which can even help you obtain spare parts.

Unfortunately, the front fastenings for the MAXIMERA were changed. The hole spacing went from 32 mm (1.25 inches) to 19 mm (0.75 inches). Whether you can use IKEA’s front brackets to avoid drilling holes in the front panel has not yet been researched.

The price advantage of the Modern Box is of course tempting. You can also start by purchasing just one drawer and testing it.
