Hello everyone,
due to current circumstances (just before signing), I’m interested in what upgrades or additional features you included—or had to include—beyond the standard package during your house construction, especially when working with a general contractor (GC), and what the price or price difference was for those?
Thank you very much

We didn’t have anything planned for the interior doors. So I’m asking: what can really be upgraded there? Better core/material
Different door handles/lever sets
Glass inserts
Wider and taller
There’s plenty to choose from

The standard option would have been those basic doors you find in almost every rental apartment (which I don’t find terrible, but also not particularly nice). Now we are getting solid white wooden doors in a country house style, one of which has a glass panel with muntins. Also, one door is more like an exterior door because it connects the normally heated kitchen to the basement replacement room (which has no underfloor heating). Visually, it matches the other doors... that one, of course, increased the cost the most.
What I would likely specify for interior doors, and have not yet seen in any construction specification, are lever handle sets from Franz Schneider Brakel.
