Hello everyone,
due to current circumstances (just before signing), I’m interested in what upgrades or additional features you included—or had to include—beyond the standard package during your house construction, especially when working with a general contractor (GC), and what the price or price difference was for those?
Thank you very much

Plumbing: 10,000 euros
Staircase: 4,000 euros
Flooring + Interior doors: 4,000 euros
We haven’t decided on tiles yet.
However, we didn’t make any compromises and always chose what we liked best.

The additional items are not upgrades. To me, an upgrade means deviating from the general contractor’s standard and instead installing something better or more.
An extra lockable toilet door? Unbelievable. That’s why @hampshire can’t really say what was upgraded. You just fill the basket until the financing budget is empty and cover all additional costs with a buffer. That’s how we did it. It’s pure luck that something was left over. But it will be invested in a patio roof, storage space, and extra loan repayments instead of a BMW 3 Series :-p

Our most expensive upgrades (and by that I really mean upgrades, not fundamental changes to heating or similar) were the interior doors, costing something between 2000-2500€ (approximately), and the roof insulation at nearly 4000€ (approximately)... for the rest, we made only minor upgrades. In total, I think it was about another 1000€ (approximately).
