Hello!

I bought a used Faktum kitchen and am now looking for a suitable countertop.

I definitely need a countertop that is 62 cm (24.4 inches) deep and 4 cm (1.6 inches) thick.

Do you have any ideas on how I could manage this? The new countertops all have a depth of more than 63 cm (24.8 inches). That probably wouldn’t fit with my Domsjö sink (with 2 basins – dimensions Length: 82.0 cm (32.3 inches), Depth: 64.0 cm (25.2 inches), Height: 25.0 cm (9.8 inches)), right? (The new Domsjö sinks have dimensions Length: 83 cm (32.7 inches), Depth: 66 cm (26.0 inches), Height: 25 cm (9.8 inches))

Should I buy a countertop from IKEA and then have it cut to a depth of 62 cm (24.4 inches) at the hardware store?

What do you think? I would be very grateful for any suggestions and ideas.

Best regards and thanks
Martina

Hello,
with the countertop configurator from OBI, you can calculate the cost of ordering a custom-sized countertop.

At IKEA, this is available as the Personlig countertop. The prices are listed in the "Countertop Buying Guide."

I would take a look at the countertops from Ikea, but as far as I know, these solid wood panels are actually semi-solid, meaning they have a particleboard core with a real wood veneer. There are also edge bandings included. This would be the most cost-effective option.

Otherwise, home improvement stores also offer solid wood panels, but finding depths greater than 60cm (24 inches) can be challenging. Hornbach, for example, has 63.5cm (25 inches) deep countertops from Kaindl, but only as laminate panels. If you don’t find anything suitable at home improvement stores or Ikea, you could also ask a carpenter, as this would not be a problem for them. However, it can be difficult to find carpenters who offer fair prices for such small jobs.

Hello,

I had a solid wood board cut to size from "by the meter" at the hardware store (4cm (1.5 inches) beech laminated wood). It is, of course, untreated, so you will need to take care of finishing it yourself.

I overlooked solid wood. That is not possible with the countertop configurator from OBI.
I would look at the countertops from Ikea, but as far as I know, these solid wood panels are only semi-solid, meaning they have a chipboard core with a real wood veneer layer

Both options exist, solid and veneered.

Thank you very much for your ideas!
I have now found what I was looking for here: worktop-express.de
(I’m not sharing a link just to be safe, as I’m not sure if that would be allowed).
They also offer 62cm (24 inches) solid wood panels at an affordable price.

P.S. Maybe I’ll post a photo after all the renovation/construction chaos at my home.
