Hello,
I am the happy owner of the Sultan Vorsbacka mattress. I bought it the year before last at the IKEA in Dresden. The IKEA employee there told me that using a cheap bed slat frame costing about 20 euros would be enough. Over time, this bed slat frame broke. Recently, I was at the IKEA in Hamburg and wanted to buy another cheap bed slat frame, but I was told that this mattress requires a special bed slat frame that costs over 100 euros. Now I’m not sure who is right. Do I really have to invest that much money? Are there any alternatives to the expensive part from IKEA?
I look forward to your reply. At the moment, I’m sleeping in my Malm bed frame with storage, which looks quite amusing.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Lukas

Jokes aside. A friend bought a slatted bed base from IKEA for about 60-70€ (around 60-70 USD) and is very satisfied with it. One advantage was that it was delivered disassembled, so it could easily fit into a Golf car.
20€ (about 20 USD) sounds like a roll-up mattress base. It’s okay—I’m currently sleeping on one myself—but in terms of comfort, it can’t compare to a sprung base. I think it’s worth spending a bit more for a healthy night's sleep.
