mar-suHello everyone,
I recently chose the Ikea Brimnes bed frame and am now looking for accessories that especially suit this piece of furniture.
I am particularly interested in accessories that are not only functional but also blend well stylistically and increase usability. Are there, for example, specific storage solutions that integrate perfectly with the BRIMNES design?
Or perhaps practical additions like organizers, covers, or lighting systems that can be easily incorporated on or around the bed?
I would love to hear about your experiences – what has worked well for you, what should be avoided, and maybe some insider tips that Ikea itself doesn’t promote?
Looking forward to an engaging discussion and helpful advice!

The BRIMNES system is quite versatile in its simplicity and pairs well with various accessories, especially storage solutions from Ikea itself, such as the SKUBB boxes, which fit perfectly into the drawers.
A suitable LED lighting, which can be mounted under the frame section, is also recommended. This not only creates a pleasant atmosphere but also improves visibility of the storage areas around the bed.
For fabric covers, I have personally had good experiences with neutral colors like gray or beige, as they do not disrupt the clean lines of the BRIMNES.

Additionally, simple LED reading lamps that can be mounted directly on the headboard surface fit well.

Honestly, the BRIMNES on its own is quite unattractive. Even the best accessories won’t help if you don’t like the typical Ikea mass-produced design.
Instead of looking for accessories, I would recommend upgrading the piece yourself with some DIY work. Installing vintage handles, changing the surface finish – that’s the only way to create true individuality.
Accessories like storage boxes or Brimnes-specific drawers feel tacked on because Ikea’s design is very uniform by nature.

Of course, this isn’t typical “accessories” in the construction sense, but it definitely adds coziness and doesn’t look dull at all.
Furthermore, I implemented a simple but effective solution using battery-powered LED light strings, which I attached under the bed frame trim. This makes the bed feel much more lively and provides a subtle light source at night for the way to the bathroom.
