does anyone actually know why the clearance areas at IKEA have decreased so much? Until recently, you could find quite a lot there, especially individual shelves or boards that might have been damaged, etc. If you’re unemployed and unfortunately move into a new apartment without a kitchen in a new city, and your own parts are not enough, you naturally look for the most affordable solutions. I always thought the clearance area was a place where you could find what you need. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, and I wonder why. Does IKEA now just throw away slightly damaged furniture???
Is it allowed to post search requests here? I’ll give it a try and hope I’m not getting myself into trouble.
I’m looking in/around Berlin (about 50km (31 miles) radius)
1. IKEA Faktum
- 3 base cabinets 80cm (31 inches) wide or just the shelves and the top rails from those, I theoretically have the side panels from other cabinets that are no longer usable (too narrow) from my “old” kitchen
- 1 reinforced base for a tall cabinet (fridge-freezer unit), the base broke partly with the legs during disassembly, so not a shelf but rather the bottom of the cabinet itself
- Faktum plastic legs 16cm (6 inches)
- Perfect stainless steel-look toe kick — maybe someone has leftovers?
2. Cover for Lycksele armchair bed in beige or red (Henan, this fine corduroy cover) Maybe someone has a used one lying around?
3. Hemnes dresser in black-brown, 3 drawers — anyone want to get rid of one cheaply??
4. Hemnes double bed black-brown 140x200cm (55 x 79 inches). Slatted frame and mattress available, I’m only looking for the bed frame or willing to trade (with additional payment for the Hemnes double bed) for an Aneboda double bed 140x200cm (55 x 79 inches) in white (frame only)
5. Domsjö ceramic sink (single bowl, built-in into the countertop, the “small one”)
6. Abstrakt fronts in red, if anyone has extras — I have almost every base cabinet width. Maybe there is a mistaken purchase somewhere...
7. Avsikt fronts (70cm (28 inches) height) for wall cabinets, also almost all widths here
I’m searching everywhere—eBay, classifieds, and anything else I can find online. I appreciate all offers in and around Berlin. Disassembly, pick-up, etc. are no problem.
It’s unfortunately quite a slow process because my budget is tight. But maybe someone also has tips, I’m new to Berlin. Used IKEA furniture might exist somewhere? Berlin seems to make almost anything possible 🙂

If you feel comfortable, call a local radio station like BB Radio and explain your situation; maybe you can get 1-2 minutes of airtime and some people might be able to help you.
