Hello everyone,

I’m new to the Ikea world but would like to get a Pax wardrobe soon because the interior fittings seem quite impressive.

However, I have the following problem: the wardrobe is listed as 236 cm (93 inches) tall, but unfortunately, I have a 10 cm (4 inch) wide ceiling overhang, so the wall height in the room is only about 234–235 cm (92–92.5 inches) – the actual ceiling height is much higher at 265 cm (104 inches).
My question is: what exactly does the height measurement refer to? Is there possibly a way to modify the back panel to make it fit?

Thank you very much!

Best regards

Hi Thirdeye,
the exact height is 2364 mm (93 inches). That is the length of the side panels. What do you mean by modifying the back? If you have someone who can possibly shorten the sides at the bottom (make sure to pay attention to left and right) and the base to the correct height, that would be the easiest solution. Then you can fit it with regular hinged doors. Check YouTube, I think there is even a tutorial for that.

Shortening the base would of course be another option – thanks for the tip!

I had hoped that the measurement of 236.4cm (93 inches) referred to the doors (I believe sliding doors need a bit more space) and that the actual cabinet top would be slightly lower. Or that maybe the side panels extend beyond (which is the case with my current cabinet) and could then be relatively easily shortened!

Depending on the available space and installation situation: simply place the cabinet about 10cm (4 inches) in front of the wall and—if visible—install a panel along the rear side to cover the gap.

I would be very reluctant to extend the room, as it unfortunately doesn’t work well visually or spatially in that space. Still, thanks for your concern!

But a little ventilation would definitely be beneficial.

And always make sure to breathe nicely through the third eye.
