ᐅ Radio in the Bathroom – Yes or No

Hello everyone and good morning,

I have been considering for several weeks whether to install a radio in the bathroom on the upper floor or not. If yes, which model would be best and how should I handle the speakers? If I do install a radio, I would like to have two ceiling speakers, not placed directly next to the radio unit...

However, I already have a TV connection and network cables in the bathroom. Sooner or later, a waterproof TV (does it really need to be fully waterproof if it won’t be exposed to splashing water?) will also be installed there. That also allows for radio reception. Is it really worth spending around 200 euros on a radio then?

Who has a radio in their bathroom and can’t imagine living without it? Who has a TV there and mainly uses it for sound or news during their morning routine?

Best regards,
Michael

Hello Sebastian,

Would you be so kind to let me know, preferably via private message, which radio and speakers you chose for the children's bathroom? I would also be interested in the names and manufacturers of the bathroom speakers that can be controlled via mobile phone.

Thank you very much and best regards,
Michael

Hello, we have a Bose portable speaker and my wife carries it into the bathroom, garden, etc.

I am looking for a nice alternative.

Hello,

Terrible, absolutely terrible. me2

Seriously: On one hand, we struggle to save every bit of energy in our houses (mostly electricity), but on the other hand, I keep in mind that telecommunications in Germany account for about 10% of electricity consumption, and this is increasing. However, that would be a topic for another thread.

Why private message? This could be interesting for others as well. ☺

My partner also loves to take long baths. We have planned ceiling speakers here, but I will make sure there is a network connection anyway (smart mirror?), although initially only music is planned.

Everything is possible, really. News could be displayed in the mirror while getting ready, or maybe watching TV while bathing...

As always, everyone has to decide for themselves. Nothing is unthinkable or even unacceptable in this regard.

I’m not obsessing over every little bit of electricity—though I don’t want to waste it either. But I want to live comfortably.

In the kids’ bathroom, there’s a standard Gira flush-mounted radio with touch controls.

The speakers are Visaton DL-8, which we have installed in the garage, kitchen, kids’ bathroom, and master bathroom. I haven’t found anything for outdoors yet...

My Pioneer receiver has app control built in, but it only supports three zones. The garage is an HD zone, the living room obviously is too, and then there’s a regular zone that covers both bathrooms, the kitchen, and the terrace. A friend built me a distributor that switches the signal to the respective room by pressing a button.

So nothing off the shelf.

I have also considered Visaton. Are you satisfied with it?
