ᐅ Radio in the Bathroom – Yes or No

Hello everyone and good morning,

I have been considering for several weeks whether to install a radio in the bathroom on the upper floor or not. If yes, which model would be best and how should I handle the speakers? If I do install a radio, I would like to have two ceiling speakers, not placed directly next to the radio unit...

However, I already have a TV connection and network cables in the bathroom. Sooner or later, a waterproof TV (does it really need to be fully waterproof if it won’t be exposed to splashing water?) will also be installed there. That also allows for radio reception. Is it really worth spending around 200 euros on a radio then?

Who has a radio in their bathroom and can’t imagine living without it? Who has a TV there and mainly uses it for sound or news during their morning routine?

Best regards,
Michael

TVs in the bathroom: Yes, you do need the more expensive "waterproof" models. Not because of splashes, but because of the water vapor, which is much more damaging. A regular TV can also handle it, I know of cases lasting 1-2 years, maybe sometimes even 3, camping TVs can perform a bit better.

I find them nicely hidden behind mirror surfaces.

I am planning to discreetly place a small Bluetooth speaker (e.g., SoundLink Mini) along with an iPod somewhere hidden. The entire system will be operated solely through voice control. And it won’t break the bank.

I’m going to buy a very cheap TV, it can break ten times before I get the overpriced Splash-TV.

While following this discussion here (somewhat reluctantly), I admittedly feel incredibly old… and I’m only in my mid-50s; media-wise, in the middle of my life. TV in the bathroom? Where is today’s society headed...? I already fall asleep with the projector in the bedroom.

I offer you my hand – but only for dutifully reading the thread, not for feeling old.
I simply wonder where this is all going... TV in the bathroom, throw it away and get new...
And I wonder if my grandparents ever felt the same when mobile phones and similar devices first appeared.

That’s just how a generational change goes – the older generation usually doesn’t understand, while the younger ones laugh at the elders... and in the end, the cycle repeats itself.

Of course, having a TV in the bathroom is considered absolutely terrible. The end of civilized society is near – Jehovah.
