ᐅ Speakers and Television in the Bathroom

Has anyone here had experience with flush-mounted ceiling speakers and a TV installed in a bathroom?

There are special "bathroom TVs" available, but they are very expensive and have poor reviews. A friend has one of those TV mirrors, but it turns out to be a poor TV and a poor mirror—so it’s neither fish nor fowl. That’s why I’m considering installing a regular, affordable TV in the bathroom. The risk would be that it might fail after 3 to 5 years, but with an investment of about 300–400€ (approx. 320–430 USD), that would still be acceptable.

Are there any recommendations for flush-mounted speaker systems?

By the way, the house has a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, and the exhaust vent will probably be located between the shower and the whirlpool, so most of the humid air should be extracted.

Further details can be found in the attached floor plan!

P.S. The necessity of having a TV in a bathroom can certainly be debated, but it should be mentioned that the bathroom will have a whirlpool and is intended for longer stays.

Hello,
I wouldn’t worry too much about moisture protection. Yes, moisture affects the lifespan, but if you don’t plan to shower in the bathtub—so no splashes will reach the area—the TV will likely be obsolete due to feature aging before moisture becomes a real issue.
By the way, in my opinion, a recessed niche where the TV is placed would collect more moisture than a practical surface-mounted wall bracket.

An alternative would be no TV at all, but rather a monitor with a TV stick. That way, you can watch everything anyway, and for monitors alone, there might be options with some degree of moisture resistance at a relatively affordable price. If you only replace the stick over time, you can also get around the problem of technical obsolescence.
I’ve posted some floor plans here, but nothing has been planned with the TV yet.

Unlike in the drawing, the bathtub is supposed to be moved into the window corner. Actually, there isn’t much space for a screen on the exterior wall—I’m imagining a wall bracket on the interior wall to the right that allows a 90° swivel of the screen...

I was considering something similar. It turned out that an iPad is sufficient.

What exact portable device did you buy? Is it specially designed for wet rooms or outdoor use?

I simply mounted an LG TV on a mobile stand. I either move it outside to the outdoor hot tub or into the bathroom by the bathtub. The volume when using the hot tub should not be underestimated. At first, I just turned it up loud to cover the bubbling sound, but that quickly results in an overall tiring noise level, so keep that in mind. I switched to Bluetooth headphones fairly quickly, which is much more comfortable and relaxing...

Is it even possible to pair TVs as audio output devices with Bluetooth speakers via Bluetooth?

Absolutely.

We installed invisible speakers in the bathroom (Pursonic in the ceiling and in the sauna) and body sound transducers directly on the bathtub, so you can even listen underwater.

I had also considered a TV but switched to a mobile solution (Microsoft Surface) instead. This is connected via Bluetooth to my Gira radio, to which the speakers are connected.

The sound quality cannot be compared to regular high-end audio equipment.

However, the whirlpool and TV are really suboptimal because they are very loud.

Four years ago, I mounted a Panasonic 42” 4K TV on the bathroom wall. It has a flexible, extremely sturdy, and long extendable arm. You can watch the TV from the bathtub, shower, or toilet. So far, the TV has been working without any issues despite exposure to shower steam, bathing, and regular cleaning. The picture quality is excellent, and the sound is good as well.

At first, I was concerned about moisture. So far, it has not been a problem.
