I have a question.
I helped a friend install a bathtub. Now he says he doesn’t want to install a pipe trap.
He thinks it’s too much effort.
The Grohe Smartbox Rapido is installed about 20cm (8 inches) above the bathtub, so according to the instructions, the pipe trap shouldn’t be attached there.
This worries me. Should I insist that he absolutely needs to install one? And what happens if he doesn’t? Could I be held liable?
Regards

Can I be held liable for this? Are you a certified professional? It’s clearly not a code-compliant installation. But on the other hand, what practical harm could really occur?

It's definitely not a standard-compliant installation. But on the other hand, what practical issues could really arise from that? No, I’m not; in that sense, I’m an amateur.

No idea. Strictly speaking, you are probably liable then. But if your acquaintance is bold enough to report you to the guild or insurance, I wouldn’t have any problem if you say that you did not perform any installation, but only cosmetic repairs. Then it becomes a matter of one statement against the other.
