jorgejuHello everyone,
I plan to properly install the handleless doors with recessed handles on my IKEA Metod kitchen. It is important to me that the installation is both noise-free and durable – meaning no rattling sounds or loose handles after a short time.
I have already read some information about correct alignment and the use of special seals or dampers, but I am unsure about the best way to attach the recessed handles so that they not only hold firmly but also remain silent, especially when opening and closing.
Does anyone have practical experience or tips on how to optimally fit the Metod recessed handles on the doors without causing noise? And which tools or additional materials are recommended for this?
Thanks for your support!

Hello jorgeju,
Your concern about properly and quietly installing the IKEA Metod handle recesses is completely understandable. Especially with handleless kitchen fronts, small rattling noises often occur if the recesses are not installed correctly.
In general, you should keep the following in mind during installation:
- Use the appropriate screws from the IKEA set, but tighten them so that the recess sits firmly without crushing the wood.
- Check the alignment beforehand to ensure nothing is crooked, which could later cause tension.
- You can place small self-adhesive felt or rubber strips between the door and the handle. These act as dampers and minimize noise.
- Another useful detail is soft plastic or silicone pads under the screw heads to prevent vibrations.
If you have little experience, I recommend testing on one door first before installing all doors. This way, you can see if the damping works and if the handles are tight enough.
If you have any further questions or want to describe your setup, I’m happy to help!

Hello!
I covered my Metod handle recesses with a bit of silicone sealing tape, which not only reduces noise but also protects against scratches when opening. Just apply a thin layer before installing the recess. It also feels pleasantly soft.
Also, make sure to tighten the screws properly, but don’t overtighten – this keeps everything stable and quiet.
Good luck, it’s really fun when the kitchen works so quietly!

Hi jorgeju,
I can definitely understand how kitchen noises can be really annoying. I recently installed recessed handles on my Metod kitchen, and it wasn’t easy to get everything aligned perfectly and quiet.
What helped me was paying close attention to the edges of the doors—sometimes the edges aren’t completely even, so sanding with fine sandpaper helps to smooth out minor irregularities.
Also, at first I didn’t use any dampers, and there was a slight rattling. Since I started attaching thin neoprene seals between the door and the recess, everything is quiet. Of course, it takes some effort, but it’s worth the investment. I even noticed that the door closes better now.
How are you progressing with this? Have you prepared any parts yet? I’m curious if you’re planning to use a small damper like that too.
