Hello everyone,
I am currently planning my kitchen. One side of the kitchen has a niche width of 2200 mm (86.6 inches) +/- 1 mm (0.04 inches), depending on the position of the tiles (the adhesive was applied rather carelessly). The following base cabinets are planned:
20 cm (8 inches) cabinet – 60 cm (24 inches) cabinet (sink) – dishwasher (60 cm/24 inches) – 80 cm (31.5 inches) cabinet
All with pull-out drawers. There is obviously no space for side panels, but those are not visible anyway. In the worst case, if it really doesn’t fit, I could simply omit the 20 cm cabinet… though I’d rather avoid this due to storage space for cleaning supplies, etc.
Do you perhaps have any little tricks, tips, or ideas on how I could save about 1-2 mm (0.04-0.08 inches) in width? 😕
Best regards from the Rhine

We are pretty much done with everything.
Today the last countertop arrived along with the backsplash for the cooktop.......unfortunately in pieces.
So, only a few finishing touches are left.

Hello,
I have already assembled an Ikea kitchen several times and planned two complete kitchens on my own... measured and compared countless times... no matter how precisely I did it, there were always differences of 1-2 cm (approximately 0.5-0.8 inches)! This is mainly because walls are 99.9% of the time never truly even or perfectly square. It’s better to leave some extra space at the beginning and then add a 20 cm (8 inches) gap somewhere if it fits. Otherwise, you can create a nice wine rack or storage space for other items.

my opinion: I would take the 2mm (0.08 inches) from the walls. Use a diamond grinding cup and an angle grinder to mill it out, then smooth it again with surface filler.
possibly you have a building that is decades old, with many layers of paint on top. In that case, you can easily remove 1-2mm (0.04-0.08 inches) of wall paint by moistening the wall and scraping it off with a triangular scraper.

My Bosch dishwasher is 59.8cm (23.5 inches) wide and has rubber edges on the left and right. So where is the problem?
Additionally, about 2mm (0.08 inches) could be trimmed off each side since the drawers are smaller. However, using a belt sander for that might be tedious.
By the way, you can place 1–2mm (0.04–0.08 inches) of plastic between the cabinet and the outer rail. This causes the drawer slides to run slightly away from the wall. I had to do this for my mother because the door frame was in the way.
Of course, this assumes the wall is at a right angle and nothing is significantly smaller.
