Apfelfreundin3 Sep 2016 20:03Hello everyone,
I am currently planning my kitchen. One side of the kitchen has a niche width of 2200 mm (86.6 inches) +/- 1 mm (0.04 inches), depending on the position of the tiles (the adhesive was applied rather carelessly). The following base cabinets are planned:
20 cm (8 inches) cabinet – 60 cm (24 inches) cabinet (sink) – dishwasher (60 cm/24 inches) – 80 cm (31.5 inches) cabinet
All with pull-out drawers. There is obviously no space for side panels, but those are not visible anyway. In the worst case, if it really doesn’t fit, I could simply omit the 20 cm cabinet… though I’d rather avoid this due to storage space for cleaning supplies, etc.
Do you perhaps have any little tricks, tips, or ideas on how I could save about 1-2 mm (0.04-0.08 inches) in width? 😕
Best regards from the Rhine

Apfelfreundin3 Sep 2016 21:52Hmm, thank you all.
Without a front, as a shelf, it would work... but it’s tricky to get things in and out. I’d rather leave a gap and install a holder there for dish towels.
Bosch specifies the dishwasher with a niche size of 600 mm (24 inches)... but the appliance itself measures 598 mm (23.5 inches) according to the technical drawing. If the actual space is 602 mm (23.7 inches), unfortunately, it won’t fit.
We’ll see... I could, of course, cut the joint at half the countertop thickness and break off the tiles in a moment of female anger 😀
Another question: How do I order filler pieces online???

robi_aus_ffm3 Sep 2016 22:35By the way, you should measure the width of 2.20m (7 ft 3 in) twice: once directly at the back wall, and once at a depth of 62cm (24 in). I bet you’ll get two different measurements...
Maybe you’ll be lucky and the front area fits, then you might be able to fudge it a bit... meaning you could sand down a little from the cabinet at the back on the left and right sides...

Apfelfreundin3 Sep 2016 22:46Of course I did 😉 There’s air in the front, and as you correctly guessed, it’s stuck in the back 😉
