ᐅ Parapet height of fixed kitchen window: 1.35 m?

We are planning a long fixed window element above the kitchen countertop. The architect has designed a sill height of 1.35 m (4 ft 5 in). I am only 1.60 m (5 ft 3 in) tall. Somehow, I can’t really picture it well. I do like that the window doesn’t start directly at the countertop, but is this height common or practical?

Floor plan: Cooking/dining area with dining table and island; entrance, bathroom, walk-in area.

Can you make sense of the plan?

Show me the plan – are you sure this isn’t a misunderstanding?

Good morning, I have uploaded the plan. I will call again today because it really is way too high. It’s getting frustrating to have to measure every single point myself and discuss everything with the architect... His argument for the high parapet: the windows in the kitchen and small bathroom should be at the same height. And because of the flush tank in the bathroom, the parapet height... but there must be other solutions?

That is also a reasonable argument.

For you, it is important that the window height matches well on the inside, while for others (and most architects) it is very important that everything looks symmetrical from the outside.

Our shell contractor also asked why the windows were at different heights with no symmetry… for us, it was important inside the stairwell to have the windows aligned along the stair progression, rather than having one at knee height and another at waist height…

I also plan windows from the inside out, not the other way around – after all, I live inside the house and not off how good the exterior looks 😉 I find symmetry rather boring; a more interesting design is preferable.

I love it when the countertop continues into the window area – I’m fine with a fixed glazed panel at the bottom if the faucet is to be installed there. Alternatively, the faucet can be positioned to the side. Extra-deep countertops are an affordable luxury, providing not only additional workspace but also more comfortable working conditions.

Unfortunately, I couldn't convince my wife about asymmetry. Otherwise, I would have designed my windows very individually. Then there would have been an island as well.
