ᐅ Parapet height of fixed kitchen window: 1.35 m?

We are planning a long fixed window element above the kitchen countertop. The architect has designed a sill height of 1.35 m (4 ft 5 in). I am only 1.60 m (5 ft 3 in) tall. Somehow, I can’t really picture it well. I do like that the window doesn’t start directly at the countertop, but is this height common or practical?

@Annettsche .. I would consider having the sliding door access to the terrace, meaning the operable part, located in the kitchen area. That way, you can walk straight through from there without having to navigate around the table.

Regarding the sliding door access, @kbt09 is correct (unlike the unfounded accusation that I wouldn’t clean up my mess). In that sense, the patio door in the living room could also be slid to the right... who knows if a nice retro yucca palm might eventually go in the upper left corner.

@Hangman .. that wasn’t underhanded 😉 ... I was just picking up on your phrase “manic preparer” 😉. By the way, I’m a confirmed fan of sink/prep/buffet/multi-purpose islands .. people from the other forum already know that 😉

In front of our kitchen, there is a front garden filled with many flowers. It would be a pity if you couldn't see it. But that is just one aspect.

Definitely!! While cooking 😉
But everyone should do whatever makes them feel most comfortable.

What criteria did you use to select him? And what material is the house actually going to be built from? A 20 cm (8 inches) wall combined with 20 cm (8 inches) external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) is quite an unusual combination, apparently not bricks: calcium silicate blocks, aerated concrete, or even concrete?

Selected based on impressive reference projects. Also, a long-established presence due to the challenges of building in an outer development area... it’s just difficult to decide beforehand. You end up working together for quite some time. The walls are planned to be calcium silicate blocks. Insulation is not finalized yet; currently, the energy consultant is working on it.
