Hello everyone,

Is there anyone who would advise against an open-plan kitchen? Especially homeowners who previously had a closed kitchen and now regret having an open kitchen after building a new house? Or do the positive experiences clearly outweigh the negatives?

Thank you!

If the room allows, an island is usually the more practical option because everything can be accessed from two sides. 😉

Alternative: Both options are possible... depending on your preference.

White, horizontally divided sliding door front of a cabinet with two square handles.

Modern kitchen with gray high-gloss cabinets, extractor hood, island, and pendant lights.

Sliding doors do not replace an open-plan design.

... can be a good compromise, though.

I would like a kitchen with a dining table right next to it.

Modern open kitchen with white island, gold bar stools, dark cabinets, and dining area.

You enter the pantry, second sink, etc., or utility room to the left, behind the kitchen. The distances are very short.

That doesn’t matter; the example is great. It demonstrates that a large possible opening can meet the desire for a connected space between kitchen and dining area while still providing a separate, enclosed room.
