Hello dear forum,

I seem to be stuck searching (and especially finding 😀) good ideas for tiling my guest toilet. The toilet is small and located under the stairs. The dimensions are 9à x 140 cm (about 3 ft x 55 inches) with a slope above the toilet (so tall men have to pee sitting down 😀).

As you can already tell from the floor, my house is decorated in a somewhat retro style. The neighbors call it the Escher House of the street 😀. Now I’m looking for something suitable, “Escher-like,” preferably in bright yellow. That matches best with the gray floor.

Do you have any ideas about what tiles are available and how I can best create a nice pattern in this small room? What are the do’s and don’ts for such a tiny space?

I’m a bit overwhelmed right now and can’t seem to find a clear or bright yellow direction myself. 😕
Small bathroom: sink on the left, toilet on the right, mirror frame leaning against the wall, plunger beside it.

White room with sloped ceiling, clothes on shelf; mirror leaning on bottom left.

I’m currently only on my phone and on the go, I’ll get back to you in detail over the weekend.

I was thinking about yellow tiles, but I can only find them from .osa. And what’s the best way to tile? Fully, yes or no, or just around the sink?

A spotlight would be fun. I only have one lamp above the mirror.

Are these dimensions the floor measurements?

Yes, those are the floor measurements. And since a post should be at least 30 characters long, I’m adding this pointless sentence as well. 😀

Hmm, why not use yellow tiles! 😀
😀 😀 Yeah, if only they were readily available somewhere. Nice and not too expensive.

What is the best way to tile a small room? With small mosaic tiles, medium-sized tiles, or rather large-format tiles?

Cladding the area above the toilet with the extra corner is too much effort for me. But the bright yellow wall does look nice.

Color-changing lights are not really my thing. I wish LED technology had never been invented. I have only rarely seen it used attractively in a house as an addition. That’s why I will install a simple wall lamp. It’s enough as a light source for the small room. 😀

That strange slope and step really look awful.

Your visitor will be impressed when the colors change. You can also set it to plain mode with the remote control if you prefer.

Yes, that step is indeed a bit of a mess. But somehow it’s not that important. I would be happy just to get the essential things sorted out. If I had to build a cladding like that myself, it wouldn’t look good either.

The visitor is out of luck. No space light or anything like that. Something yellow has to create the feeling. That will have to do. 😎
