Hello everyone, I noticed that one of the panels is missing on my Ikea Kallax shelf. These panels are meant to cover the back and are important for the overall appearance. Does anyone have experience with where to get original replacement panels for the Kallax shelf?
I prefer original parts whenever possible, as they match the color best and fit well. Is there an official way to order replacements directly from Ikea, or perhaps trusted shops that stock these panels? I have also considered used items, but wanted to ask here first for experiences and advice.
Important to know: I’m looking for the panel for the 2x2 Kallax unit (the back covering panels), and the shelf is about 2 years old. A suitable reference or part number would also be very helpful.

I understand your search well. If trim pieces are missing from Ikea furniture, the first and best contact is indeed Ikea customer service. Usually, you can order replacement parts there, even if they are not listed in the regular product range. Important: The part number of the trim helps a lot if you still have the packaging or manual – these usually show the item numbers.
If the number is not available, Ikea staff often describe the product based on the model name (here Kallax 2x2) and the missing part – this is common for the trim.
Another tip: Ikea has an online platform for replacement parts in many countries. You can search there for "back panel trim Kallax." These sites do not always have everything, but it is often the fastest solution.
Additionally, if you want to rely on private sellers, it’s worth checking platforms like Ebay Classifieds or specialized furniture reseller websites. Often, you can find replacement trims that are used but in good condition.
Summary:
1. Contact Ikea customer service directly (phone, email, or in person), have the part number ready.
2. Check Ikea’s replacement parts portal.
3. Consider private used sellers (Ebay Classifieds, etc.) as an alternative.
Hope this helps you!

To add some precise information:
The official Ikea spare parts service does not always offer replacement panels as individual parts; this often depends on the region. For my Kallax shelving unit, I was able to find replacement panels through the spare parts range by searching for the item number of the unit and then navigating through the accessories category.
This is correct; it is best to have the exact model name ready along with the measurements of the panel, in case the staff ask for further details.
Additionally, it is helpful to check Ikea-specific forums, as they often share insider information about current sources for spare parts.
eBay or other online marketplaces are a reliable secondary source, but at the expense of color accuracy and warranty. For the best fit and color match, the official route is recommended.

Hello everyone 🙂
Just a quick tip: If you can’t find a replacement panel at Ikea, sometimes you can recreate the back panel yourself using thin wood or MDF boards and paint them to match.
I know it’s not the perfect solution, but it often saves time and frustration. Plus, it adds a little DIY vibe to your furniture life ;-)
Of course, this only works if you want it to look reasonably good – otherwise, the official option remains the best choice.
Makes sense, but if a replacement is hard to get, this can sometimes be the more practical solution 🙂
