Hello everyone, I recently bought a Kallax shelf and want to attach it to a dolly to have more flexibility in the room. However, I’m facing the problem that the shelf easily slips on the casters, which is not only annoying but also creates uncertainty when loading and unloading. Therefore, my question to you is: How do you effectively prevent your Kallax from slipping on dollies? I would like to know which methods or products you use to keep the shelf stable without completely restricting its range of movement. I am especially interested in tips for preventing slipping on smooth floors like parquet or tile, as that is exactly the type of surface I have. Thanks in advance for your experiences and suggestions!

In general, I recommend equipping caster boards with reliable braking systems. There are basically two options: first, wheels with built-in, easy-to-use brakes that completely prevent rolling. Alternatively, rubber mats can be placed under the platform to provide grip on smooth floors. Additionally, it makes sense to secure the wheels on the side, for example, with small stops or felt pads that limit movement. A combination of wheel brakes and anti-slip materials offers the best stability.

I attach wheel stoppers directly to the casters on my shelving unit. These lock firmly when engaged. Additionally, I use a non-slip mat under the casters. This keeps the Kallax very stable.

I can confirm that. In particular, casters with a strong locking brake are highly recommended. A major advantage is the ease of use, operated directly with the foot. Something often overlooked is that the dollies should be sturdy enough to support the weight of the filled Kallax unit properly and prevent sagging, which otherwise increases instability.

Hello everyone! I’ve basically created magic with my Kallax! 🙂

I stuck self-adhesive rubber pads under the wheels and also blocked the wheels with small wooden brake blocks when I want the shelf to stay in place. The result? No more sliding, even when I’m loading and unloading it heavily! Give it a try, it’s super simple and inexpensive!

It’s amazing how simple solutions can be so effective!

Wow, those are really interesting tips!

I just wanted to add that I also placed foam mats under the casters to prevent slipping and protect tile floors. It’s amazing how the shelf finally stays exactly where I put it!

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!
