Hello everyone,

We are currently in the quotation phase of our construction project.

We have received an offer from a local general contractor who also provides a precast concrete garage.

The item is as follows:

Rekers XXL Garage RF 580 A, 2.98m x 8.00m (9.8ft x 26.2ft), with 1 door, 1 window, electrical package, 1 electric sectional door, including foundation and drainage.

The cost is 16,260€.

Is this price reasonable? It seems a bit high to me.

Thanks for your feedback and best regards!

That seems a bit tall for a single garage, even if it is "extra long." I would request quotes from several suppliers and then decide what type of garage you want (concrete, timber frame, steel, precast concrete elements, aerated concrete elements, etc.). Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages, along with corresponding price differences. It is certainly some work, but it is doable and helps to compare better. I requested quotes from nearly 20 providers and created a comparison table.

The price seems very high to me as well. I just bought a garage measuring 2.98 x 6 meters (9.78 x 19.7 feet) plus a 3 x 3 meter (9.8 x 9.8 feet) annex, each equipped with an electrical package, an electric sectional door with remote control, and drainage, but without a foundation, for about €9,800. Although a strip foundation shouldn’t cost much.

Thanks

Below is the table, but I don’t think it’s very useful. The table was created over 2 years ago, and I no longer remember the exact data from back then. For some suppliers, I had requested a specific quote. At some point, the topic was no longer relevant because the garage was purchased together with the house from a carpentry company. That’s why it wasn’t updated further. To get accurate prices, you probably need to take the time to request quotes yourself. Comparisons are often difficult because the included features aren’t always the same. Therefore, the table would need to be expanded with additional points.

Table with dealers, inquiries, responses, price, material and dimensions (L x W x H).

Thank you, so I understand correctly that you have now purchased a garage built with a timber frame construction?

How satisfied are you? Heat, cold/summer, winter?
Moisture, etc.

Many thanks
