Hi,
I would like to have a small shed in my garden to store my lawn mower and other equipment. Do I need a foundation for it, or can I place it directly on the grass? I have no experience with this and would appreciate any helpful advice!

Hi, it is definitely advisable not to place the garden shed directly on bare ground. A foundation should be in place, as otherwise it will completely give way after a few years!

The foundation process is quite simple, and today there is concrete that dries very quickly. This makes it a fast task because without a foundation, the house quickly loses stability and can start leaning.

I would also pour a foundation. You can embed your beams right away, so the wind won’t be able to affect them. Are you building the house yourself, or did you get one from a hardware store?

Of course, you need a foundation; otherwise, with prolonged moisture, the wood will start to rot right from underneath. That’s why you should only place a few stone slabs underneath.

My neighbor made the mistake of placing a house like this directly on the grass without a foundation. During a strong gust of wind, the whole structure collapsed. This definitely wouldn’t have happened with a proper foundation.
