garfunkel28 Feb 2018 20:41Hello
I want to replace a door. The largest dimensions are 86 x 195.5 cm (approximately 34 x 77 inches, outer frame measurement). According to the hardware store’s website, they don’t seem to have doors that size. They start at 88 cm (about 35 inches) and up...
Did I measure incorrectly? That can’t be the case since I already took the largest measurement...
I don’t want to go to the hardware store only to find nothing available, so I’m considering going straight to a specialist store hoping to find a suitable door there.
The door no longer closes properly, so this needs to be done quickly.
I also want to improve sound insulation and thermal insulation to the stairwell at the same time.
Security is not important to me, so that’s not a factor.
Since it is an apartment door, the look is secondary for now, although it should be wood.
How much should I roughly expect to invest in a good door?
I’m interested in a general price range.
I already have the lock and hinges.

It’s probably even less feasible to have a smaller size than my current door.

So, if the door panel has a maximum width of 86cm (34 inches), then this is a completely normal standard door, or am I mistaken? For example, standard doors from Herholz are usually 860x1985 mm (34x78 inches). Or what dimension do these 860 mm (34 inches) represent for you? If this is the width of the door panel, then it is a standard size, and I don’t know what you were looking for at the home improvement store. ;-)
