ᐅ Is irrigation without a pump possible using the OS140 and drip hoses?

Hello,

unfortunately, I need to ask for help in a forum. I just can’t find the right answers online, and since I have to make a lot of on-the-spot decisions and do research right now, I thought I’d give this a try here. (On the spot, because the landscaper has time to fit us in now, otherwise we would have to wait another month).

I would like to irrigate my rectangular lawn area with a simple sprinkler system (Gardena OS140). But now I think it might not be enough for my wife’s grass bed and the border planting. So I was considering adding drip hoses there.

Info:
Lawn is about 15m x 6m (49 ft x 20 ft)
Beds should be about 50 cm (20 inches) deep, same depth for the border planting
Water comes out at about 22-23 seconds for 10 liters (2.6 gallons) from the connection (green)
I was thinking the red OS140 for the red area, drip hoses (blue) for the rest.
I already own an OS140 set and a Select irrigation controller

Now my questions to those familiar with Gardena systems (my landscaper and the local home improvement store staff unfortunately are not):

1.) Is it okay to place the OS140 off-center, closer to the edge? The garden isn’t very wide, and this way my son is less in the way when playing football.
2.) Can I do this without a pump, using only one water connection and a Y-connector (one way for the drip hoses, one way for the sprinkler)?
3.) Or would it be better to use an "X-connector" so that the two drip directions are separate — do such connectors even exist?
4.) If that doesn’t work, should I rather connect a Multicontrol Duo (and ditch the Select) to my water supply, to alternate the drip hoses with a Y-connector and the OS140?
5.) Or do you think the OS140 alone is sufficient and I shouldn’t worry about adding drip hoses?

It would be great if someone with Gardena experience could help me with the short-term planning. I have to make tons of decisions every day right now because everything is happening very quickly.

Thanks!

Kind regards

Sebastian
