Hello IKEA fans!

We have a niche where our washing machine is located, and there is 140cm (55 inches) of space above it. We would like to hang a wall cabinet with doors there – we were thinking of Besta in terms of price and appearance.

That wouldn’t really be an issue, but here is my question: Is there a way to properly hang the Besta 128x60x40 cm (50x24x16 inches) cabinet with the Besta wall mount or any other method?

The cabinet body has no preparation for mounting. Can you drill holes yourself? Are the walls hollow?

To support it, we would place the cabinet on brackets from IKEA, like the Ekby Lerberg type, or something more stable, since those apparently only hold about 15kg (33 lbs)...

I hope you can give me some good tips!

Best regards

Hello,
yes, with BESTA everything is hollow.

So is Besta completely unsuitable even with a bracket underneath supporting the shelf?

If the bracket is sufficiently large and securely installed, it will support the cabinet, but the surface is much more delicate than that of METOD.

I am now leaning towards two wall cabinets measuring 60x60x40cm (24x24x16 inches) stacked on top of each other. This almost reaches the same overall dimension and they are definitely much sturdier.
