ᐅ Is a second person necessary when assembling the IKEA Brimnes?

gerd48Good morning everyone,
I am about to assemble an IKEA Brimnes bed and am wondering whether I should do it with a second person or if it can be managed alone without any issues. My main question is: Is it really necessary to have a second person assist with assembling the IKEA Brimnes bed, or can it be done solo without major complications?
I am especially interested in the stability when joining the individual parts, whether there are any technical or logistical challenges that would make having a second helper useful, and if there are any experiences regarding how much time to allow when assembling alone compared to with two people.
I look forward to your assessments and maybe some tips on what I should pay particular attention to when assembling by myself.

thank you for your very clearly formulated question. Basically, the IKEA Brimnes bed is not particularly complicated to assemble, but
- having a second person is definitely helpful because joining the large parts, especially the slatted frame and the side panels, is easier and safer.
- However, it is doable alone if you take enough time and perhaps especially take breaks during the bigger steps or carefully align the parts on the floor.
What is often underestimated is that holding panels in place while screwing them together can be difficult on your own – patience is required here. Personally, I recommend using someone as support if you have help available; this not only shortens the assembly time significantly but also saves your nerves.
Regarding stability: whether alone or with two people – if you follow the assembly instructions, the finished piece of furniture is stable and secure.
If you are working alone, consider getting tools to help (for example clamps) so you can better hold the parts in place.
I hope this helps you!

Hey gerd48!
Wow, Brimnes is really a cool piece of furniture! 😊 Regarding your question – do you need someone to help with the assembly? It’s definitely easier with a second person!
You can manage it alone, yes, but it feels much easier when someone helps hold the parts or tightens screws while you hold other pieces. This way, you avoid frustration and long breaks.
Don’t stress, you’ll get it done – but better to grab a helping hand, then it’s more fun too!
Good luck and let us know how it went! 💪

So, if you’re well prepared, you can assemble the bed on your own.
I can understand that this decision is not always easy.
I completely agree with that. Not only does it make the assembly easier, but it’s also more enjoyable to work on something together.
If you do decide to build alone, I recommend being patient with yourself. Especially with furniture like Brimnes, which has multiple parts and screws, focus and care are essential – otherwise, frustration is almost guaranteed if something doesn’t fit or feels unstable.
Also, a second perspective can provide valuable insights when something is unclear. That’s why I always find it better to work together whenever possible.
Good luck anyway, and feel free to ask if you have any questions about the assembly – there are many experienced people here!
