Hello,

We have a small outbuilding with two rooms, each having three exterior walls. In one of the rooms, battens have been installed on the interior side of the exterior walls, with plastic-coated chipboards fixed on top. Between the battens, there are polystyrene boards.

We would like to replace the chipboards with proper wood, meaning untreated tongue-and-groove boards. We also want to remove the polystyrene boards but replace them with another insulation material. Therefore, our question is: which material would be suitable for this purpose?

Best regards,

I insulated my walls from the inside using insulation batts, including a vapor barrier.

Hello nelly190,
Thank you for the quick reply. Do you have wood cladding or something else on the outside? Has the roofing felt stayed dry? And what about the ceiling, is a vapor barrier also necessary there? Above that is an unheated attic...

I built a stud wall using metal profiles and installed insulation wool behind it. Then I carefully sealed everything with vapor barrier foil, including the ceiling, and screwed drywall panels in front. This method is also shown on various manufacturers’ websites.
