Katha_92Hello,
It is very important to me that the IKEA Pax wardrobe fits into the walk-in closet. According to our planning, the Pax is 2.72 m wide (9 ft). Should I make the distance between the walls exactly 2.72 m (9 ft) wide, or do you usually allow some clearance? If yes, how much?
Does anyone have experience with this?
Thanks.

If you want to install a Pax wardrobe, that’s fine. However, the wall should be about 6 cm (2.4 inches) wider, so 2.78 m (9.12 ft). But then you’ll always have dust and dirt collecting in the gaps, and it’s hard to clean. Personally, I would make the wall 3 m (9.84 ft) wide. That way, you can clean on both sides, and if Ikea ever changes the dimensions or goes out of business, you can still fit another wardrobe.

Thank you. We did the same in our current house, planning for a 3-meter (10 feet) Pax to fit.
We had the wall built exactly that length.
I would recommend allowing some extra space—at least about 20 centimeters (8 inches).
Unless, like us, you want to reach behind the wardrobe just to turn on the lights. 😀

Yes, that is correct, but Ikea doesn’t offer customized sizes, so we have to adapt to theirs.
Should 6 cm (2.4 inches) of clearance be enough for a precise fit? Thanks.

When planning, please also consider the other trades: in addition to the electrical installation already mentioned by @kati1337, I would like to mention the controlled ventilation valves, baseboards, door frames, etc. Thanks. Controlled ventilation valve is a good tip!
Does anyone else have experience with tolerance or clearance around the walls?
