A small tip for everyone in Berlin (especially near IKEA Tempelhof).
I happened to discover this yesterday because I wanted my items delivered immediately. They deliver your purchase on the same day. It only took 2 hours. Great service... why doesn’t IKEA offer something like this?

I came across it by chance yesterday because I wanted my items delivered immediately. They deliver your shopping the same day. It only took 2 hours. Great service... why doesn’t IKEA offer something like this?Hello,
two hours is obviously unbeatable. But IKEA delivers or ships items through third parties. I had a cowhide armchair sent to my office before Christmas, and I think it cost around 10€ (about $11). I find that a fair price. I would have spent as much on gas if I had picked it up myself—not to mention the time saved.

That’s right. IKEA ships goods via an external carrier, which is, however, internally based within the company.
Therefore, IKEA itself is not responsible for the transport.

Alter Schwede7 Jan 2009 20:20The €10 charge and transport through third parties don’t seem to apply at Ikea Tempelhof. Ikea, or this third-party company located in the store, charges a minimum of €29 (about $32). And they don’t do same-day service!
The idea of €10 and transport via a third party doesn’t quite add up. Because Ikea or, for that matter, this third-party company located in the building charges a minimum of €29. And they don’t deliver on the same day! Yes, that’s true. Minimum €29. It used to be that they delivered on the same day (about two years ago), but that was only for a short time. Now, same-day delivery is no longer available, but the price remains €29.

Danny_12998 Jan 2009 17:31Hello,
Large items are more expensive. I bought the mentioned cowhide armchair before Christmas through an online store and had it delivered. It arrived via DHL, UPS, Hermes, or one of those companies—I honestly don’t remember which. It goes without saying that it takes a few days and isn’t completed within two hours.
Best regards, Danny
