Wurzelbuerste10 Sep 2016 10:07Hello everyone,
I am now in the final stages of assembling my kitchen.
The plan is to have two shallow drawers under the cooktop, each with a 10cm (4 inch) front.
The problem is that due to the fixed partition for the cooktop (NYTTIG), the top drawer no longer fits.
Is there an alternative solution so that the shallow drawer can still fit? I would prefer not to omit the drawer and replace it with a panel instead.
Unfortunately, the IKEA kitchen planner did not show any error. This is already the second mistake by the software.
Best regards

IKEA-Freund10 Sep 2016 10:50Hello,
How thick is your countertop? If it is quite thin, there might not be enough space. You could install a thicker countertop, then it should work.

IKEA-Experte10 Sep 2016 11:37A thicker countertop does not change the position of NYTTIG...
Only a shallow drawer with a 20cm (8 inch) front is planned.

Wurzelbuerste10 Sep 2016 11:39The panel will be 38mm (1.5 inches) thick. Original Ikea.
I would also have no problem replacing NYTTIG with something else.
The Smaklig instructions specify a 2mm (0.08 inches) gap for ventilation. If I use an aluminum panel, the whole setup will be more compact.
I just don’t know if that is allowed.

IKEA-Freund12 Sep 2016 13:34Hello,
The idea was that with a thicker countertop, the required depth of the cooktop recessed into the cabinet could be slightly less, allowing for a higher installation of the Nyttig cover (provided that ventilation requirements can be met).

IKEA-Experte12 Sep 2016 14:06Another task of NYTTIG is to prevent the drawer from colliding with the cable. If everything with the ventilation is fine, it might be that only a short drawer fits because of the cable.
