hamletHello,
I would like to install a new wardrobe in my bedroom.
I have 530cm (209 inches) of width available.
Currently, I planned five 100cm (39 inch) wide Pax cabinets. I have now read that the 100cm (39 inch) shelf units can be quite unstable... Should I bite the bullet and switch everything to 50cm (20 inch) units for proper stability? But that would almost be twice as expensive... tsk.
Maybe you can help me,
thanks

Additional question:
Would you choose everything in white, or have the carcasses in a dark color and only the doors in white? I won’t see the carcasses when closed anyway...

IKEA-Experte20 Jul 2014 23:17Hello, if you can’t see the cabinet carcass, I would go with white. That way, the inside of the wardrobe will be a bit brighter even with somewhat weaker lighting.
You can also combine 50cm (20 inches) and 100cm (39 inches) carcasses, depending on what you want to store inside. For a section with a clothes rail, for example, I would choose a 100cm (39 inches) unit and place only lighter items on a shelf above it.
Make use of storage options like drawers, dividers, etc., then 100cm (39 inches) units are at least partly suitable.

Thank you, I will revise the plan accordingly.
What is the ideal way to light the closet? I am considering installing an LED strip per cabinet at the very top (or under the top shelf, but above the clothes rail). Are there other options for lower areas, or should I just use more LEDs?
Thanks,
Christoph
