ᐅ IKEA Metod: How can I make drawers quieter?

Hello everyone,

I recently designed a kitchen using the Ikea Metod system. The drawers generally work well, but I’ve noticed that they are quite noisy when opening and closing. Especially in the morning, when you want to use them quietly, this can be really annoying.

I’m wondering what effective measures can be taken to make the Metod system drawers quieter. Are there specific dampers or other tricks to reduce the noise when closing or sliding the drawers?

I’m interested in both DIY solutions and recommendations for compatible accessories or products.

Maybe someone has experience with the Metod system or knows good alternatives for soundproofing these drawers.

Thank you in advance!

Some even use silicone spray for moving parts; it really makes things smoother.

Thanks, I’ll give that a try too.

What should you use? Are there special sprays suitable for the plastic fittings from Ikea, or would solid lubricants be better?

I don’t want to use anything that could damage the plastic parts.

I recommend silicone spray, as it is neutral towards plastics.

Do not use oil, as it can attract dirt and become dusty.

Spray only a small amount and spread it well to avoid any residue remaining.

So, I have now retrofitted soft-close dampers from Ikea and applied some silicone spray to the rails.

The result is great: the drawers close much more quietly and operate much smoother.

Many thanks to everyone who gave me helpful advice here!
