Hello everyone,

I have an IKEA Malm bedside table that wobbles noticeably when I slide it across my wooden floor. It seems that the connection between the legs and the main body is not completely rigid, which causes the bedside table to move slightly when I shift it for cleaning or rearranging. My question is: What is the best way to secure or stabilize the IKEA Malm bedside table so that it doesn’t wobble when sliding it, without affecting its appearance or requiring major modifications? Are there any recommended methods, specific accessories, or small tricks I should consider? Thanks in advance for your tips!

The screws hold the legs and the frame together. If there is any looseness, small corner braces inside can help. Attach them diagonally from the inside to the joint; this makes the structure more stable without being visible.

Hey Kiusdeo,

I find this topic really interesting because the Malm is actually a nice piece of furniture that shouldn’t wobble around, right?

Here’s the thing: if you’ve already tightened the screws and the bed frame is still a bit wobbly, try placing some small self-adhesive non-slip pads under the legs — they’re super easy to apply and really make a difference with unstable furniture.

If you want to keep it looking neat and don’t want to change the legs externally, apply some wood glue at the joints, then tighten everything again and let it dry thoroughly. This is basically the secret to a strong furniture bond without anyone noticing what you’ve done.

And hey, if that doesn’t help: a little stabilizing = a bit of tinkering, but it’s totally worth it for the comfort factor at your bed! 🙂
