Hello dear IKEA fans,

I have been a fan of IKEA for a long time, and we have furnished most of our house with IKEA furniture.

I have a very specific question: when we moved two years ago, we chose the Hemnes series for our living room wall. On the left and right, we have wide Hemnes bookcases in black-brown, in the middle the matching TV stand, and above that, the wall shelf in the corresponding width.

However, I use the bookcases for CDs, as I have a very large collection. The distance between the individual shelves is relatively high for CDs. Therefore, I would like to have additional shelves. I have visited the IKEA store several times and also checked the clearance section on impulse, but always without success. I have spoken with many salespeople, hoping someone could give me a tip on how to get individual Hemnes shelves. These are not sold separately.

I have even posted ads looking for used shelves, but again without success. I would rather not buy an entire Hemnes bookcase just for four shelves I need.

Does anyone perhaps have a tip or can help me?

Thank you very much!

You could try staining pine boards yourself to match. At the hardware store, for example, there should be Clou stain available in various shades. You might take a Hemnes board along and compare it with the sample cards to see if there is a suitable option.

I have thought about that as well. However, I’ve tried something similar with another shelf before, and you could tell that the boards weren’t original.

Is there no way to get hold of four such boards?

If I knew someone who worked in the clearance section, I would ask them to call me immediately if a HEMNES shelf shows up there.

A suggestion

Alternating an original wooden shelf with a glass shelf
These glass shelves could also be very effectively illuminated with LED lighting.

Best regards
