Hello everyone,
I am currently dealing with the challenging transition from Faktum to Metod. Unfortunately, we own a Faktum kitchen with Applad fronts, which I’m now trying to carefully supplement due to an upcoming move. I’ve been searching through online classifieds for individual pieces, but the whole process is turning out to be quite difficult. That’s why I’m looking for experienced IKEA fans who have actually tested the compatibility of both systems in practice. Often, the standard answer is simply: it won’t work... but I’m trying to figure out what is actually possible! Especially since the Veddinge fronts are said to match the Applad fronts very well visually.
I’ve read that, for example, the pull-out wire baskets and probably the inner drawers should fit into the Faktum carcasses. However, you can’t use the pre-drilled rows of holes and need to move the rails slightly towards the back (though I haven’t tried this myself yet).
Are there any fellow users here who have combined Faktum carcasses with Metod fronts? What about the drawer system? Has the entire system changed, or just the front dimensions? I would also be interested in how the door hinges compare. Visually, they look quite similar from pictures, and the old Rationell hinges are now hard to find! It would also be interesting if anyone has tried using the Utrusta drawer fitting set to convert a Faktum door into a drawer front...
I look forward to any shared experiences.

Hello,
We have Faktum base cabinets and two wall cabinets. We bought an additional wall cabinet and a tall cabinet from the Metod system. The Metod system is 10mm (0.4 inches) deeper and should be taken into account during planning and installation. The Ikea worktops with a depth of 635mm (25 inches) are helpful in this context. Standard worktops are often too shallow.
The drawer height increments differ, but that is manageable for us. I believe combining base cabinets from these two systems is not possible due to the height differences.
