Hello everyone,
I have been using the Ikea Besta system at home for a while now and have started to notice that some parts, such as hinges, screws, or drawer slides, are worn out or no longer functioning properly. My question is: which replacement parts are most commonly needed for Ikea Besta furniture, in other words, what are the typical wear-and-tear components? I am also interested in where and how to best obtain these parts, especially when it comes to special or less obvious small components. Does Ikea offer an easy way to order replacement parts directly, or are there recommended alternatives?
Thanks for your insights and advice!

Hello pipabi,
I have often ordered spare parts from Ikea, and it usually works smoothly via phone or directly at the store. Currently, there is no dedicated spare parts ordering option on the Ikea website, but the phone customer service can assist you quickly. Availability is good; you often receive the parts within a few days or can pick them up directly if they are in stock.
Regarding screws and fittings: some screws for Besta are specially shaped, especially the connecting fittings. They often don’t match standard hardware store parts exactly, particularly the connection screws, which have serrated or flat bearing surfaces.
My tip: take a defective part with you when you go to the hardware store to compare.

I would always recommend: it’s better to make a quick trip to Ikea if you’re in a hurry than to struggle with the wrong materials. Otherwise, it can quickly turn into a chaotic day of DIY.
Good morning,
I’d like to add some information about availability: In my experience, Ikea replacement parts for BESTA are often not directly available on the shelves, but customer service is always helpful. Sometimes it can take up to a week for the ordered part to arrive.
There is also the option to download user manuals (PDF) online, where the replacement parts are often listed with part numbers – this can be very useful when ordering to ensure you get the exact part you need.
If someone regularly maintains their BESTA furniture, it might be worth securing a small spare parts kit or ordering screws and hinges in advance.

If anyone has recommendations for especially durable or stronger alternative parts (for example, more robust hinges), I would really appreciate some tips as well.
