Hello everyone,

I have been using the Ikea Besta system at home for a while now and have started to notice that some parts, such as hinges, screws, or drawer slides, are worn out or no longer functioning properly. My question is: which replacement parts are most commonly needed for Ikea Besta furniture, in other words, what are the typical wear-and-tear components? I am also interested in where and how to best obtain these parts, especially when it comes to special or less obvious small components. Does Ikea offer an easy way to order replacement parts directly, or are there recommended alternatives?

Thanks for your insights and advice!

The most commonly needed replacement parts for BESTA are usually hinges, drawer rollers, and connecting fittings.

Ikea provides replacement parts directly through their service center; alternatively, suitable standard parts can be found at hardware stores.

Good morning! 😊

About BESTA: The most common issues are actually the hinges, screws, and sometimes the caps. The drawer slides are also often a problem if they get stuck or don’t move smoothly.

Tip: Just ask directly at the Ikea store – they often have small spare parts counters or can order parts for you without having to buy the entire piece of furniture again. Otherwise, many standard fittings from other stores will fit if you’re willing to do a bit of DIY. 😉

Hello pipabi,

You asked a well-structured question, and I can offer you some experience on this. The Ikea BESTA is popular, but over the years, you need to keep an eye on the moving parts. The most common replacements are:

- Metal hinges that become loose or no longer close properly
- Drawer runners, especially with frequent use
- Screw connectors and plastic clips that can easily break

Ikea itself offers spare parts, often through their customer service or directly at the store. It is important to have your item numbers ready (found on the packaging or assembly instructions). Some spare parts must be specifically requested, or you may need to check the online PDF manual for detailed information.

If Ikea cannot help, I recommend hardware stores for standard fittings or specialized spare parts suppliers who sometimes stock Ikea components. Be careful with universal parts: they do not always fit perfectly, so check measurements carefully.

Hinges and drawer runners are the most common wear parts for BESTA. At Ikea, you can order these directly. It is important to know the exact name or article number.

Thanks for the information so far! One more question: How does the replacement part ordering process work at Ikea? Do you really have to go to the store, or can it be done by phone or online? Is there usually a waiting time, or are the parts mostly available immediately?

And does anyone know if certain screws or fittings for BESTA have a specific size or standard, so that hardware store parts don’t always fit? That would be helpful for my preparation.
