Hello everyone,

Some time ago, I purchased the Ikea Besta shelving unit with drawers, but unfortunately, the drawers don’t slide as smoothly as I expected. In particular, the movement sometimes feels jerky and requires quite a bit of force to open and close. I have already visually checked the rails and rollers but didn’t find any obvious damage or foreign objects causing obstruction.

My question is: How can I make the drawers of the Ikea Besta shelving unit slide more smoothly in a lasting way and with minimal effort? Are there proven methods that also help extend the lifespan of the drawers? What products are suitable, and are there any special maintenance tips for the rollers or rails?

I would appreciate helpful tips and specific advice, as I would prefer not to completely disassemble the drawers or perform very complex modifications. Thanks in advance!

In summary, I recommend the following procedure for Ikea Besta drawers:

- Remove the drawer and thoroughly clean the slides and rollers (dust, dirt, old lubricants).
- Use only silicone-based or plastic-specific lubricants; avoid mineral oil-based products to prevent damage to plastic components.
- Check the rollers for wear and replace them if necessary.
- Verify the mechanism is properly adjusted, as incorrect installation can cause friction.
- Pay attention to the maximum allowable load of the drawers to avoid premature wear.

These recommendations are based on the technical specifications of the Ikea Besta drawer systems. Experimenting with unsuitable lubricants or incorrect assembly can cause irreversible damage.
