Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to use some IKEA Brimnes furniture at home and have a specific question: How well can IKEA Brimnes furniture be expanded, especially when combining several pieces like wardrobes, dressers, or beds modularly?
I am particularly interested in whether the individual parts are compatible, if there are official extensions that fit seamlessly, and whether there are any general limitations regarding stability or assembly when joining multiple pieces together.
Perhaps someone has practical experience with the expandability of this furniture series, for example when connecting wardrobes or installing additional storage units in combination with Brimnes.
Looking forward to your opinions and tips!

I recently tried to combine several Brimnes dressers into a long sideboard. What I noticed is that it really makes sense not to just place the furniture next to each other, but to use connecting screws, otherwise the pieces tend to shift too easily.
I was also a bit concerned about how stable the whole setup would be for my children – so I added some brackets and made sure not to skip the wall-mounting. This way, I feel safer and can sleep peacefully.
I would definitely recommend paying attention to stability and secure fastenings when expanding, even if the appearance looks perfect.

For stability, I recommend always securing furniture to the wall.I agree with this. Without wall mounting, extensions are never truly secure. To be on the safe side, larger pieces of furniture should also be connected with fasteners rather than just placed loosely side by side.
