Hello everyone,

I am currently considering outfitting my new wardrobe with the IKEA PLATSA system. Since I place great importance on adaptability and storage space, I am wondering: How suitable is IKEA PLATSA as a wardrobe in terms of stability, functionality, and customization?

I would like to know if the system works well for different types of clothing (jackets, coats, shoes), how durable it really is in everyday use, and whether the assembly is manageable for non-professionals.

Additionally, I am interested in user experiences with the various shelves and hanging options, and whether the system is a long-term solution or better suited for temporary use.

Looking forward to your detailed assessments!

Without proper anchoring, the risk of tipping cannot be ruled out, which poses a safety hazard.

That makes sense, thank you. I assume wall mounting is possible in my hallway, but there are several outlets and sockets there.

Does anyone have tips or experience on how to secure the mounting discreetly and safely when the wall is not completely free?

For users without DIY experience, the instructions are clear, but assembling requires care and time.

How long did it take you to assemble a typical wardrobe unit? I’m planning to bring someone along but am unsure how complex the process is.

I understand that the installation and mounting can feel a bit overwhelming in the end.

For our wall mounting, I placed the brackets as close as possible to the corner and near the top, where there are no electrical outlets. I also used thin hooks that are barely noticeable, along with matching covers. It also helps to check the exact position of any cables inside the wall beforehand – that really reduces the pressure.

As for the assembly: We had two people who took about 2–3 hours for a medium-sized wardrobe wall. The instructions are easy to follow, but you do need some time, especially if you want to get everything perfectly aligned. Don’t worry, it’s definitely doable and even enjoyable once the result is in place.
