Good morning everyone, I am currently looking into how to effectively improve the stability of Ikea Hemnes beds, especially the models with slatted bases and storage. In my apartment, the bed noticeably wobbles after some time when getting up or sitting down, which is obviously annoying in the long run and could also accelerate material wear. I have already considered some basic options, such as adding braces or extra spacers, but I would like to know about practical experiences on this topic. I am interested in whether existing connections can be improved without making major changes to the frame, as well as tips for additional stabilization methods that can be implemented with commonly available materials. What measures have you found effective to make the HEMNES bed sturdy and free of wobbling?

Hey, great topic! I gave my Hemnes bed a real boost! In addition to the center support beam, I screwed a few narrow steel brackets under the side panels of the bed – now it's super stable! 🙂 The problem with wobbling is completely gone. Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t fit perfectly on the first try; a bit of patience is definitely worth it!

The suggested metal brackets and additional braces provide good support. It is important to measure accurately and avoid overtightening the screws to prevent stressing the wood.

Great, this idea with wooden dowels can actually reduce wobbling because they hold the joints tightly.

Exactly, inserting wooden dowels can improve the fit and provide additional stability. It is important to ensure precise drilling depths to avoid distortion. A bit of wood glue helps secure the joint permanently with minimal effort.

Additionally, I recommend regularly checking the screws and tightening them if necessary, as wood and screws can slightly shift under load.
