Hello everyone, I currently have an issue with adjusting the doors of my IKEA PAX wardrobe. During assembly, I made a mistake that now causes the doors not to close properly and to hang unevenly in places. I am interested in how the adjustment of the PAX doors works, especially in cases of assembly errors.

Specifically, I would like to know: Which screws or mechanisms can be adjusted afterward to realign the doors correctly? How much adjustment range is there for height, lateral, and depth alignment? Are there any special tips or methods that have proven effective for common assembly mistakes? I have already looked at the manual, but it is not detailed enough for my current situation.

I would appreciate any advice or clear explanations on fine-tuning!

Great question, aldote! The adjustment mechanism on PAX doors is really pretty cool. 😊

With my PAX doors, the key was to precisely adjust the screws on the hinges:
- The horizontal screw allows you to shift the door sideways to adjust the gaps.
- The vertical screw helps you hang the door higher or lower.
- And there’s also a screw that lets you adjust the door in depth!

Just try each one step by step and adjust very carefully until it fits perfectly. Don’t get frustrated; sometimes it takes a while, but it’s worth it! Keep at it, you can do it! 💪

Hello aldote,

I have read your question about adjusting the Ikea PAX doors with installation issues carefully and would like to offer you a structured approach:

1. Preparation: Open the doors and take a close look at the hinges. Ikea usually uses concealed hinges with three adjustment options.

2. Lateral adjustment: Use the screw located on the side (often the longer one of the three) to move the doors horizontally to adjust the gaps.

3. Height adjustment: The screw at the bottom or top allows you to raise or lower the door. Make sure to work carefully and make small adjustments.

4. Depth adjustment: A third screw lets you set the door’s distance from the cabinet front, that is, how far the door stands out or is recessed.

Common problems include overtightening the screws or overlooking the small plastic protective caps that are sometimes still on the screws.

In summary: The key elements are the three adjustment screws on the hinge, which should be adjusted carefully and in small steps to realign the doors perfectly.

If you like, I can also provide further tips on specific adjustments.

This is an important point! I would like to add that a systematic approach is beneficial when dealing with installation errors. Here is my detailed process for adjustment requirements:

- Step 1: Analyze the cause. Are the doors crooked, or is the gap uneven? This indicates whether side, height, or depth adjustment should be prioritized.

- Step 2: Loosen all hinge screws so the door can move more freely. Especially with incorrect installations, tightened screws can cause tension and warping.

- Step 3: Make the adjustment carefully:
- The side screw moves the door horizontally to balance gap differences.
- The vertical screw controls the height and lifts the door without stressing the hinges.
- The depth screw adjusts the pressure and alignment against the cabinet surface.

- Step 4: Carefully retighten the screws while monitoring the position to prevent misalignment.

- Note: Sometimes it helps to completely unhook the hinges by slightly loosening them before adjustment if the door is heavily stuck.

- Final tip: For PAX doors with mirrored panels, extra caution is required, as uneven adjustment can cause the mirror to crack.

Could you describe more precisely where the issues occur with your doors? Then I can offer more targeted advice.

Thank you for the detailed feedback! Specifically, my doors on the left side hang slightly too low, so the gap at the top between the door and the cabinet frame is uneven, and the doors rub against each other. Additionally, the right door appears to be slightly warped outward, as if it’s not hanging completely parallel. So far, I have only slightly tightened the hinges based on feel but have not made any deliberate adjustments.

I suspect I need to hang the left door a little higher and adjust the lateral alignment of the right door, but I don’t have clear guidance on which screws serve which purpose and how much I can safely turn them without damaging the mechanism.
