My question is: How can I safely secure Malm furniture, especially the bed, to reliably prevent tipping? Are there proven methods that are not only stable but also minimize the impact on the appearance? I understand that there are special wall anchors, but I am looking for effective yet simple solutions, preferably with tips on installation. Thanks in advance for your experience!
Regarding the topic "How do I secure Malm furniture safely?": The Malm series from IKEA is not specifically designed to withstand tipping forces. The best way to secure it is by using the included or separately available wall attachments, preferably on load-bearing walls (concrete or structural timber). Alternatively, metal angle brackets fixed into the wall with appropriate anchors can be used. It is important that the fastening is mechanically anchored both to the furniture and the wall to effectively prevent tipping.
It’s great that you’re taking this issue seriously! 🙂 I secured our Malm dresser back then using IKEA wall brackets and also added self-adhesive rubber pads as protection to prevent the dresser from sliding when the bed is pulled. This provides extra peace of mind when dealing with kids!
Hey Patric, speaking from my own experience: a little creativity works wonders. I wrapped the retaining straps of the Malm series with trendy fabric bands and secured them to the wall – it looks great and firmly protects the furniture. 🙂 The important thing is to make sure you attach the fasteners properly because loose holders don’t do the job.
