Hello everyone,
I have an issue with my MALM bed frames from IKEA. They keep sliding on my laminate floor, which is not only annoying but also affects their stability. My question is: How can I effectively and permanently prevent MALM bed frames from slipping without compromising the appearance or damaging the floor? Are there any specific methods, materials, or accessories you would recommend? I have considered rubber pads but am unsure how well they hold and how they might affect the flooring.
I look forward to your tips and experiences!

Hello BODA48,
regarding your issue: Most MALM bed frames have narrow feet made of wood or MDF, which creates high pressure on small areas of the floor. This promotes slipping, especially on smooth surfaces like laminate.
For effective securing, I recommend the following approach:
1. Foot analysis: If the underside is slightly textured, you can directly attach non-slip pads. There are special rubber anti-slip pads that can be removed without leaving residue.
2. Alternatively: Use a combination of thin, transparent anti-slip mats (placed under the feet) and a protective floor mat underneath that covers the entire area. This is especially useful if you want to protect the floor.
3. Screw clamp plates: Some users attach small metal or plastic plates with rubber coating on the underside of the bed feet to improve friction.
4. Important: Clean the floor surface thoroughly before applying, so that dust particles do not reduce adhesion.
Can you describe exactly what type of flooring you have? Laminate flooring varies in surface texture, and depending on that, you could choose the appropriate type of anti-slip material.
Regarding durability: High-quality silicone or rubber pads usually last several years, are resilient, and do not damage the floor as long as they do not leave adhesive residues.
I hope this detailed assessment helps you find the right solution.

Are there any special methods, materials, or accessories recommended here?Hey, yes, the classic non-slip pads are a real insider tip! 🙂 Just stick them under the bed legs, and voilà – nothing slides anymore. I used self-adhesive transparent pads for mine, barely visible and laminate flooring appreciates it too.

Important tip: clean the floor well before installationAbsolutely, at first I just quickly stuck the pads on. Didn’t work at all. Cleaned everything properly – problem solved.
If you’re up for a bit of DIY, try combining felt gliders with non-slip pads. That gives nice cushioning and extra grip.
Good luck securing your dream bed! ;-)
